Phillip Eustace Stretton |
(English, 1865 -1919 ) |
Born in London, Stretton was an accomplished animal artist who painted chiefly dogs and sporting subjects. His paintings, often exhibiting a sentimental side, were executed with a loose painterly style during a period when most of his contemporaries were painting in a much more finished way. He exhibited some 31 works at the Royal Academy from 1884 to 1905 to include several dog titles and also showed at the Suffolk Street. |
