Liza Todd-Tivey (American, 20th C. ) Liza Todd Tivey is an American sculptor who transformed her love of dogs and horses into a successful artistic career. Important commissions include bronzes of such renowned horses as Northern Dancer, Seattle Slew, Secretariat and a half-size memorial of Nashua for Spendthrift Farm in Kentucky. Nor has she neglected other animals, creating a life size calf in bronze for the village of Gstaad in Switzerland, and a life size post 9/11 rescue dog, one of which is now in the collection of Farmingdale State University on Long Island, New York. Liza was brought up in England and Switzerland, where her love of animals flourished and her natural skill at drawing and sculpting animals drew her to study art formally, first at the prestigious Hornsey College of Art in London and later at the Otis Institute in Los Angeles. Liza has an innate understanding of an animals anatomy and she has the uncanny ability to create sculptures which capture the true nature of her subjects. Lizas work is collected internationally and she is represented in important collections in Europe and the United States. |
