Hopkins was a landscape animal and sporting painter. He exhibited at British
Institute from 1853 and Royal Academy from 1858, as well as at Suffolk School.
He became a popular painter of horses, hounds, and hunting scenes, such as "Her
Majesty's Buckhounds,” of 1877. Hopkins sometimes collaborated with Edmund
Havell, Jr. who painted figures. Hopkin's daughter Hannah exhibited genre scenes
at Royal Academy, 1873-1877. |
