A painter and engraver, Strebel specialised in the depiction of dogs, an in particular pure-bred dogs. He studied at he Academies in Cassel and Carlsruhe and later in Munich. He s perhaps best remembered for illustrating the comprehensive volume, “Der Deutsche Hunde,” published in 1904.
