Robert Watson |
(English, 1865 1916 ) |
Robert Watson was an accomplished painter of Highland scenes depicting sheep or cattle. There was much demand for Watsons work as Scottish scenes were extremely fashionable in late nineteenth century Europe, partly due to Queen Victorias extended summer visits to Balmoral Castle in Aberdeenshire. At his best, Watson was able to capture the raw essence of the Scottish Highlands with their lingering mists and constantly changing elements. |
