Katherine S. Finch
(American, 20th C )

The California artist, Katherine S. Finch, went to art school in Nashville, Tennessee and to the Academy of Arts in Memphis, is known for her bronze sculptures and ceramic models of dogs, in particular the Afghan Hound. Kay Finch was also a well-known breeder and exhibitor of Afghan Hounds. Her Crown Crest Kennel played an important role in the foundation of modern-day Afghans. Crown Crest produced over 100 champions and numerous all-breed and specialty Best in Show winners. One of her most famous dogs, Ch. Crown Crest Mr. Universe, shown exclusively by Kay, amassed a record of thirty-five all-breed Best in Shows, 100 Hound Group Firsts, and four National Specialty Show wins before he was retired.
