Joos Vincent de Vos
(Belgian, 1829 -1875 )

A native of Courtrai, Vincent de Vos was a student of the animal painter, Woutermaetens at the Courtrai Academy. Moneys were among his favourite subject matters and he often painted them with dogs, usually in circus costumes.

De Vos often worked on panels in a small scale and his work received a lot of attention during his lifetime. He exhibited extensively Belgium and France and his work was known as far away as The United States
