Original works of art

Noble was noted for painting sporting scenes, especially gun dogs and Otterhounds, painting with quick, sure hands and a rich palette.

He was a pupil of Sir Edwin Landseer and studied at the Royal Academy Schools. His first exhibition in London was in 1866. Noble exhibited 48 paintings at the Royal Academy from 1871 to 1895. He became a member of the Royal Society of British Artists in 1872. He also showed as total of ninety-six works at the Suffolk Street from 1872 to 1896.

Noble initially exhibited as J.S. Noble, Jnr. until 1875. He painted pictures with other artists, including J. Noble, W.H. Foster (in 1873 and 1876) and also J.C. Waite (in 1885).
