Joseph Marcel Breton studied under Benjamin Constant and Jean-Paul Laurens and exhibited at the Paris Salon, notably in 1904 with Foederis Arca

Breton produced portraits and genre scenes of family life as well as decorative murals for the churches of St-Ambroise, Notre-Dame-des-Champs, St-Germain-en-Laye, and others. His work, executed with a rapid touch, have a discreet and melancholic charm.
