John Frederick Herring Jr.
(English, 1815 -1907 )

Frederick John Herring was born Blackfriars, Surrey. He came to specialize in painting horses, and was very successful. He visited Paris at the invitation of the duc d’Orleans, and in 1845 was in England appointed painter to the Duchess of Kent. He ws later commissioned by Queen Victoria, ho as to remain his patron. Later in life, he stopped painting racehorses and concentrated on farm scenes.
