Weir as a painter of landscapes and animals, as well as an illustrator, watercolourist
and writer. He was a student of George Baxter, but developed his own individual
style through a direct study of nature. His illustrations appeared in “The
Graphic” as well as “The London Illustrated News.” He exhibited
in London between 1843 and 1880, at the Royal Academy, the British Institution
and at Suffolk Street.
