Original works of art

Henry Wilkinson
(English, 1921 -2011 )

Henry Wilkinson was born into an artistic family. Following his early studies at Winchester College of Art, entrance was gained to the Royal College of Art in the painting school. By hard work a place was also gained in the Engraving School under Robert Austin Royal Academy, and Malcolm Osborne M.A. M.B.E.. He won various scholarships and diplomas and studied in Germany, France and Italy. After the war he was elected to the Royal Society of Painter, Etchers, & Engravers, ultimately as a Councillor. For many years he was professor of the Engraving School at the City and Guilds of London. It was only after the death of his mentor, George Vernon Stokes, in 1954 that Wilkinson began producing his limited edition drypoints of dogs and other sporting subjects. Living and working in Kent he originates, prints and finishes all aspects of his original etchings and line engravings.
