Henry Frederick Lucas - Lucas
(English, 1848 -1943 )

Born at Lough in Lincolnshire, Lucas deserted his family and moved to Rugby in 1878. Dog paintings were rare for him. His subjects consisted mainly of hunting scenes, and horse portraits, including racehorses, and polo ponies.

He exhibited three paintings at the Royal Birmingham Society of Artists between 1885 and 1887. Several of his pieces published by Fores as prints (best known "Putting in the Terriers," 1894).
