Original works of art

Georges Lucien Vacossin
(French, 20th C. )

Vacossin specialized in sculpting dogs, and his study of three puppies and a snail is representative of many of the stylized and rather abstracted animals that were produced in France during the art deco period of the 1920's and 1930's. He exhibited at the Paris Salon on a regular basis between 1902 and 1937 and his works were for the most part manufactured by Maison Thiebaut, although some work was executed by the Sevres factory.
