Friedrich Wilhelm Keyl
(German, 1823 -1871 )

Keyl first studied with Verboeckhoven then, in 1845, came to London to study with Landseer.

He exhibited at the Royal Academy from 1847 to 1872, a total of forty-two paintings in all with a couple of dog titles. He also exhibited thirty-four paintings at BI. Queen Victoria commissioned several paintings including Chinese Lap Dog, which was exhibited at the Royal Academy in 1862.
