Original works of art

Florence Jay
(English, fl.1905 -1920 )

Florence Jay lived in Peterborough and Liverpool. She painted portraits, genre scenes and sporting subjects, showing a special talent for depicting dogs. Her paintings are often worked rather loosely, with emphasis on the dog's expression and coat texture.

She exhibited five paintings at the Royal Academy from 1905 to 1908, and at the Liverpool Autumn Exhibitions held at the Walker Art Gallery, Liverpool, in 1915 and 1920.
