(French, 1822 -1896 )

Luminais was a student of L. Cogniet and of Troyon and he was noted for his paintings of animals. It was said that his "technique is quite vigorous and shows charm and humour"

He first exhibited at the Salon in 1843 and won medals in 1852, 1855, 1857 and 1861. In 1869 he was decorated with the Legion of Honour. His paintings are in galleries all over Europe and in Sydney.
