Original works of art

Eugene Petit
(French, 1839 -1886 )

While born in France, Petit travelled extensively, painting both in England and on the Continent. He studied under the genre painter, Edouard Muller, and exhibited his work at the Paris Salon, starting in 1863. He was awarded a medal for his work at the Salon of 1873.

Petit was a painter of both animals, flowers and genre scenes, and his work is characterized by a bright palette, with a painterly brush stoke.

His work is in many European museums, including those at Carcassone, Campiegne, Courtrai and Saint-Etiene.
