Original works of art

Carl Reichert
(Austrian, 1836 -1918 )

Reichert came from a family of artists and studied at the Academy of Design in Gretz with J. Turner and E. Chr. Moser. He continued his education in Munich in 1866, and in Rome in 1867 with Ludwig Joh. Passini and Anton Romako. He was known as a genre and animal painter and his typically small-scale works are highly finished with a great attention to detail. While he executed some dog portraits, many of his paintings depict dogs interacting with one another, often engaged in humorous play.
