Carl J. SuhrLandt
(German, 1828 -1919 )

A pupil of Ary Scheffer in Paris, Suhrlandt painted primarily dogs and cats. He lived in Copenhagen from 1859 to 1860 and later in St. Petersburg (where he was nominated a member of the Academy in 1861). Occasionally he visited England where he painted horses and dogs of the aristocracy. He settled in Schwerin where he became a professor.
