Original works of art

Colin Graeme
(English, 1858 -1910 )

One of the sons of R.H. Roe, Colin dropped the surname Roe to distinguish himself from other members of his family. Graeme was a very prolific animal artist, painting many portraits of horses, sporting dogs, and Terriers. He had a good understanding of anatomy and a painterly technique, but an unfortunate habit of sometimes outlining the eyes of the animals that he depicted, giving them an exaggerated, almost "made-up" appearance.
