Jacques was an animal painter of the Barbizon School, and although not known for dog paintings, he nevertheless executed several. His most frequent subjects were flocks of sheep and barnyard scenes. He exhibited at the Salon between 1845 and 1870, receiving a Legion of Honour in 1867. |
