Original works of art

Alisonn Zorba of Willington, Connecticut has had an interest in animals and art from childhood. Primarily self-taught, she trained at the Boston Museum of Fine Arts.
Inspired by a pastel portrait of a family friend, Alisonn started painting pastels of horses and eventually turned to dogs. One of her first pastels was a Yorkshire Terrier which was featured on the cover of the American Kennel Gazette in December of 1982. Another, a portrait of a Morgan Horse, was hung in the office of the Governor of the State of Connecticut.
Although working primarily in pastels, she has done many canine based studies in pen and ink. Several of them have been used by the Farmington Valley Kennel Club as covers for their award winning club publications. Several other dog-related businesses and clubs have commissioned her pen and ink renderings.
Pure-Bred Dogs-AKC Gazette magazine has commissioned and published several of her pen and ink drawings.
In 1992 she was awarded the Maxwell Medallion for drawing, by the Dog Writer's Association of America.
Ms. Zorba's work may be seen at the William Secord Gallery where she has been exhibited extensively.
