Original works of art

Alexander Davis Cooper
(English, fl. 1837 -1888 )

The son of the animal artist, Abraham Cooper, Alexander followed in his father's footsteps, executing many equine and canine portraits. He exhibited some sixty-seven works at the Royal Academy, the majority of which were landscapes. Cooper was a fine painter but he did not achieve the renown of his father who was a major sporting artist.
